WET SAND

Soooooooo let me tell you a little bit about my first workshop at CSM’s MA Character Animation course.

Caroline Leaf

To kick off we we’re lectured by none other than the one, the only Caroline Leaf. Haven’t heard of her? me neither… well it turns out Caroline is a very impressive and skilled animator, who works on straight ahead, stop motion short films, using little more than a lightbox, a camera, and good old fashioned sand. Let’s have a look shall we?

LOVELY RIGHT?

So, with that we were thrown into groups, to commence our three day battle of skill and whits. Determined to be crowned the best in the land, each group would stop at nothing to see their enemies’ hopes and dreams crash and burn.

SQ BOY

SQ Boy was my group’s (or “the Wildcats” as we like to be called) first creation, and as such, will always hold a special place in our hearts.

This piece talks about the death of an entity, the birth of a universe, and the conception of a human being. It deals with the parallelism or complementary nature of life and death, destruction and creation.

M ship

M ship is the Wildcats’ middle child, and as such holds no special place in our hearts.

It’s Just a guitar that turns into a ship innit

A COST

Blood, sweat, and tears is what this last one cost… Blood, sweat and tears. I would tell you exactly what it means to us, the creators, but your extrapolation may be better. Just know that any conclusions or epiphanies you may draw from our art, remains a byproduct of said art and as such, is technically our intellectual property…

And no, the title isn’t in any way shape or form related to Costa coffee!

Unless you like it, in which case, we did it on purpose.

MAKE SURE TO PASS BY THE GIFT SHOP ON YOUR WAY OUT

Aaaaaaaaaand to wrap things up, here are a couple of funky little timelaps’… ENJOLY! (that was a typo, but I kind of like it, so… ENJOLLY!!!)

That’ll be all for now folks. If you really enjoyed this riveting reed, and would like to make it up to me, I accept cash donations.
